FTC Disclosure Guidelines for Creators

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

Jump Shops Inc. (“Jump,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) requires all Creators using the Jump Shops platform (“Platform”) to comply with applicable advertising and endorsement laws, including guidelines issued by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”).

These guidelines are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal advice.

Creators are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.

1. Affiliate Disclosure Requirement

If you promote products through your Jump Shop and may earn a commission from purchases, you must clearly disclose that relationship. The FTC requires that consumers understand when a recommendation is financially motivated. If there is a “material connection” between you and a brand, it must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously.

A material connection includes:

  • Affiliate commissions
  • Free products
  • Discounts
  • Sponsorships
  • Any financial benefit

2. How to Properly Disclose

Disclosures must be:

  • Clear
  • Conspicuous
  • Easy to understand
  • Placed near the endorsement
  • Visible without requiring users to click “more”

Disclosures should not be hidden in:

  • Bio pages only
  • Terms and conditions
  • Hashtag blocks
  • Footer text

3. Examples of Acceptable Disclosures

Depending on the platform, acceptable disclosures may include:

  • “I may earn a commission from this link.”
  • “Affiliate link.”
  • “Sponsored.”
  • “Paid partnership.”
  • “#ad” or “#affiliate” (when clearly visible and not buried in hashtags)

Disclosures must appear before or near the affiliate link or product promotion.

4. Social Media-Specific Guidance

For platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or similar:

  • Disclosures should appear in the caption or on-screen
  • Verbal disclosures should be included in videos when appropriate
  • Platform-specific “paid partnership” tools should be used when available

Creators should not rely solely on platform features to satisfy disclosure obligations.

5. Honest Representations

Creators must:

  • Provide truthful opinions
  • Avoid false or misleading claims
  • Avoid exaggerated performance claims
  • Avoid guarantees unless substantiated

If you have not personally used a product, you should not imply that you have.

6. Responsibility of the Creator

Creators are independent users of the Platform.

Creators are solely responsible for:

  • Ensuring proper disclosures
  • Understanding FTC guidelines
  • Complying with advertising laws in their jurisdiction

Jump does not monitor all Creator content and does not provide legal advice.

Failure to comply with disclosure laws may result in:

  • Removal of content
  • Suspension of account
  • Termination from the Platform

7. International Creators

Creators located outside the United States may be subject to additional advertising disclosure laws in their jurisdiction.

Creators are responsible for complying with all applicable local laws.

8. No Legal Advice

These guidelines are provided as a general resource only.

Creators should consult a qualified attorney if they have questions regarding legal compliance.
